Regular Season Round 3: Las Animas - CD Valdivia 77-74

A very close game took place in Valdivia between Las Animas and Deportivo Valdivia. Las Animas (1-2) got a very close home victory over Deportivo Valdivia (2-1). Las Animas managed to escape with a 3-point win 77-74 on Saturday evening. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-10. But Deportivo Valdivia won second period 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: DTMones) who scored 26 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Terrance Thomas (198-80, college: Baylor, agency: Interperformances) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Sebastian Suarez (193-91, college: Portland St.) who recorded 27 points and the former international point guard Erik Carrasco (181-83) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively. Las Animas will meet at home CD Puerto Varas (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Deportivo Valdivia will play against Universidad de Concepcion (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
