Regular Season Round 4: Shiga L-Stars - Okinawa GK 71-95

Shiga L-Stars (2-1) recorded its first loss at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by top-ranked Okinawa GK (2-0) 95-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Shiga L-Stars. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game without a history. Okinawa GK led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Shiga L-Stars' 48. They outrebounded Shiga L-Stars 42-29 including 33 on the defensive glass. Okinawa GK looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Evan Ravenel (203-89, college: Ohio St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds and guard Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-90) who added 13 points and 10 assists during the contest. Five Okinawa GK players scored in double figures. At the losing side Yu Okada (184-83) responded with 24 points and 4 assists and American guard Kejuan Johnson (193-85, college: Long Beach St., agency: Inception Sports) scored 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Okinawa GK moved-up to second place, which they share with Niigata Albirex. Loser Shiga L-Stars dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with 6 other teams. Okinawa GK will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shiga L-Stars will play again against the league's second-placed Okinawa GK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
