Regular Season Round 1: Chiba Jets - Aishin SH 75-86

Very expected game when Chiba Jets (0-2) were defeated at home by Aishin Sea Horses (2-0) 86-75 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Chiba Jets was better in third quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Chiba Jets 35-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Aishin Sea Horses especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.3 percentage. American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) chipped in 23 points. At the losing side American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Fumio Nishimura (177-86) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin Sea Horses will face Hitachi Sunrockers in Tokyo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Chiba Jets will play on the road against Dragonflies in Hiroshima and hope to win that game.
