Regular Season Round 4: Esprit Kosice - Inter Bratislava 93-88

Round 4 in SBL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Kosice where host Slavia Kosice (3-1) beat league's leader Inter Bratislava (3-1) 93-88 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Inter Bratislava. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Slavia Kosice dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Inter Bratislava's 28. American forward Luis Jacobo (196-91, college: IPFW, agency: Mansfield and Associates) fired 25 points and 5 assists for the winners. Serbian point guard Sasa Avramovic (193-93, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Slavia Kosice players scored in double figures. The former international power forward Radoslav Rancik (205-79, college: St.Cloud St., agency: Beo Basket) produced 38 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and Croatian forward Sasa Jankovic (204-84) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Inter Bratislava's coach Branko Maksimovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Slavia Kosice moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Inter Bratislava. Inter Bratislava will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Slavia Kosice will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Iskra Svit on the road.
