Regular Season Round 2: Maccabi Haifa - Ironi Nahariya 84-63

No shocking result in a game when Maccabi Haifa (1-1) smashed at home Ironi Nahariya (1-1) 84-63 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Haifa. Ironi Nahariya was better in fourth quarter 20-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Haifa looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Venezuelan point guard Gregory Vargas (180-86, agency: Pro Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 assists. American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 18 points and 4 blocks. Five Maccabi Haifa players scored in double figures. Maccabi Haifa's coach Rami Hadar felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American Richard Howell (203-90, college: N.Carolina St.) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 20 rebounds and Nigerian-American point guard Michael Umeh (188-84, college: UNLV) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Maccabi Haifa will face Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#7) at home in the next round. Ironi Nahariya will play against Hapoel Eilat and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
