Regular Season Round 2: Aishin SH - Hitachi SR 52-72

An interesting game was played in Kariya where Hitachi Sunrockers (#8) rolled over host Aishin Sea Horses (#4) with 20-point difference 72-52 on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Hitachi Sunrockers. Aishin Sea Horses managed to win third quarter 23-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hitachi Sunrockers dominated on the defensive end, holding Aishin Sea Horses to just 4 points in second quarter and to 9 points in first half. They outrebounded Aishin Sea Horses 52-41 including a 40-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) chipped in 15 points during the contest. American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 19 rebounds and the former international guard Makoto Hiejima (190-90) scored 11 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hitachi Sunrockers will meet at home Dragonflies (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Aishin Sea Horses will play against Nishinomiya S. and hope to secure a win.
