Regular Season Round 2: Aishin SH - Hitachi SR 93-86

There was no surprise in Kariya where Hitachi Sunrockers (1-3) were defeated by Aishin Sea Horses (3-1) 93-86 on Sunday. Hitachi Sunrockers trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 31-25 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 86-93 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Hitachi Sunrockers 42-27 including a 27-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) who scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. Center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. Power forward Joshua Heytvelt (210-86, college: Gonzaga) produced 22 points and 6 rebounds and forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Aishin Sea Horses will face Nishinomiya S. (#12) in Hyogo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hitachi Sunrockers will play at home against Dragonflies (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
