Regular Season Round 8: Osaka Evessa - Shimane SM 69-63

BJ League round 8 caused change at the leadership position. Second defeat of league's leader Shimane Magic (4-2) against seventh ranked Osaka Evessa (4-2) 69-63 was the most important game of the last round. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 6 points. Osaka Evessa dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Shimane Magic's 24. American forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 blocks. Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Blackledge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) added 26 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Shimane Magic. Osaka Evessa have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Shimane Magic. Shimane Magic will play next round against strong Hamamatsu Phoenix trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Osaka Evessa will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Okinawa GK at home.
