Regular Season Round 4: Marin - El Olivar 87-72

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Marin and 8th ranked El Olivar had identical 1-2 record. This time Marin used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Zaragoza 87-72 on Saturday night. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Marin's pressure prevailed and they won that period 25-14 extending their advantage to 15 points. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Marin forced 25 El Olivar turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Antonio Pantin (206-88, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American guard Gabe Rogers (188-90, college: N.Arizona) who added 9 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Marc Marti (204-97) responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Cesar Hidalgo (188-80) scored 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Five El Olivar players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Marin (2-2) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Tarragona and Clinicas Rincon. Newly promoted El Olivar dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Marin will face higher ranked Meridiano Alicante (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. El Olivar will play against Zornotza (#11) in Amorebieta-Echano and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
