Regular Season Round 4: Den Bosch - Groningen 78-59

Round 4 in Eredivisie means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Den Bosch where host Den Bosch (2-1) crushed league's leader Groningen (3-2) 78-59 on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Den Bosch. Groningen managed to win second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Den Bosch dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Groningen's 22. They outrebounded Groningen 37-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Groningen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Serbian-Canadian forward Dejan Kravic (211-90, college: Texas Tech) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. International guard Arvin Slagter (191-85, agency: Court Side) chipped in 12 points and 4 assists. Den Bosch's coach Samuel Jones used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Canadian power forward Ross Bekkering (203-87) produced 13 points and 9 rebounds and international guard Yannick Franke (194-96) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Leiden. Groningen at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Zwolle. Groningen will play next round against Weert trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Den Bosch will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Leiden on the road.
