Regular Season Round 5: Almassera - Cartagena 95-52

No shocking result in a game in Valencia where leader Almassera (3-0) outleveled bottom-ranked Cartagena (0-3) 95-52 on Saturday. The game without a history. Almassera led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Cartagena's 16. Almassera forced 22 Cartagena turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Cartagena's players. Forward Vicent Santamatilde (197-94) stepped up and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and center Andres Jimenez (198-88) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Four Almassera players scored in double figures. Forward Alberto Ballesta (202-95) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and Argentinian center Adrian Rey (208-86) scored 5 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Almassera have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group E with 3-0 record, which they share with Gandia Basquet and L`Alfas. Loser Cartagena still closes the standings with three games lost. Almassera will face Benidorm (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cartagena will play against Sagunto and hopes to get finally their first victory.
