Regular Season Round 7: Iskra Svit - Nova Ves 92-71

Bottom-ranked Nova Ves (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 92-71 loss to seventh ranked Iskra Svit (2-4) in Svit on Saturday evening. Iskra Svit shot 29 for 43 from the free-throw line, while Nova Ves only scored eleven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Nova Ves 42-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Serbian swingman Milic Blagojevic (200-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Rilwan Bakare (201, college: Texas Wesleyan) helped adding 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Iskra Svit players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Tomas Osvald (194-88) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Vladimir Hovanak (193-82) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Iskra Svit maintains seventh place with 2-4 record. Loser Nova Ves still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Nitra. Iskra Svit will meet league's leader Prievidza on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nova Ves will play against Nitra (#8) and hope to get finally their first victory.
