Regular Season Round 6: Bayer Giants - Trier 66-64

Date: October 24, 2015
There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Bayer Giants (2-4) edged higher ranked Gladiators (3-3) in Leverkusen 66-64 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 11 points after three quarters before their 21-8 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Bayer Giants made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Gladiators were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a good game for swingman Ricky Kreklow (201-92, college: Creighton) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Drew Brandon (193-92, college: E.Washington) contributed with 11 points and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Dwayne Evans (198-92, college: St.Louis) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Eric Anderson (204-93, college: New Haven) added 14 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) in the effort for Gladiators. Gladiators' coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bayer Giants moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with ETB Wohnbau. Loser Gladiators dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Bayer Giants will face league's leader Oettinger Rockets Gotha on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
