Regular Season Round 4: Shandong - Henan 60-72

Very important is a home loss of Shandong (0-4) against seventh ranked Henan (2-2) on Saturday night. Host Shandong was defeated by Henan in Jinan 72-60. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-60. Henan outrebounded Shandong 42-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by forward Yang Wang (182-90) who scored that evening 22 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Tianna Hawkins (191-91, college: Maryland) supported her with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Even a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds by international power forward Hengyu Yang (194-95) did not help to save the game for Shandong. Forward Wei Cao (182-95) added 14 points for lost side. Henan moved-up to third place, which they share with 6 other teams. Newly promoted Shandong still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Heilongjiang. Henan will meet at home league's second-placed Shanghai Octopus in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shandong will play against the league's leader Guangdong Dolphins (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
