Regular Season Round 5: Albacete - Alcobendas 93-61

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Albacete and bottom-ranked Alcobendas had identical 0-1 record. This time Albacete used a home court advantage and outleveled the opponent from Alcobendas 93-61 on Sunday night. The game without a history. Albacete led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Alcobendas' 30. They outrebounded Alcobendas 42-23 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Albacete especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. American guard Garrett Nevels (188, college: Hawaii) stepped up and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and Cuban forward Georvys Elias (199-81) chipped in 11 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Jorge Tejera (200-92) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Guillermo Ruiz (185-95, college: Newberry) scored 13 points. Five Albacete and four Alcobendas players scored in double figures. Alcobendas' coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Albacete (1-1) left bottom position moving up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Alcobendas still closes the standings with two games lost. Albacete will face league's leader Azuqueca on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alcobendas will play against Tenerife Naut. (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
