Regular Season Round 3: Hapoel G/A - Ramat Hasharon 89-87

A very close game took place in Afula between Hapoel Afula and Hasharon. Hapoel Afula (3-0) got a very close home victory over Hasharon (0-3). Hapoel Afula managed to escape with a 2-point win 89-87 on Tuesday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Hapoel Afula shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for American Brandon Brown (199-85, college: CS San Bernar.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Noam Matalon (197-87, agency: Avi Zilberman) accounted for 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Billy McShepard (208-87, college: Valdosta St., agency: Blacktop Management) came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Jamell Cornley (196-87, college: Penn St.) added 22 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Hasharon in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hapoel Afula will meet Hapoel Kfar Saba (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hasharon will play against Hapoel Kazrin (#12) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
