Regular Season Round 9: Las Animas - Puente Alto 81-76
Date: October 31, 2015
Rather expected game in Valdivia where 7th ranked Puente Alto (3-5) was defeated by fifth ranked Las Animas (5-3) 81-76 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: DTMones) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and forward Jose Cardenas (193-81) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Louis Munks (190-90, college: Prairie View A&M) with 30 points and 8 rebounds and forward Franco Garrido (181-86) scored 20 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Puente Alto's coach Mauricio Flores tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Las Animas moved-up to second place, which they share with Colo Colo. Loser Puente Alto dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Las Animas will face league's second-placed Colo Colo in Santiago in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Puente Alto will play on the road against the league's leader Universidad de Concepcion (#1) and hope to win that game.
