Regular Season Round 9: Rieker KN - Nova Ves 105-54

Bottom-ranked Nova Ves (0-8) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to third ranked Rieker KN (6-2) 105-54 on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Rieker KN led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Nova Ves' 32 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Rieker KN forced 21 Nova Ves turnovers and outrebounded them 45-25 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Nova Ves' players. The best player for the winners was American guard Bernard Thompson (190-93, college: FGCU) who scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Czech forward Filip Halada (198-92) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Rieker KN players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Daniel Lenart (188-88) who recorded 12 points and swingman Vladimir Hovanak (193-82) added 13 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Rieker KN. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Slavia Kosice and Levice. Nova Ves lost their eighth game in a row. They still close the standings with eight games lost. Rieker KN will meet at home league's leader Prievidza in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nova Ves will play against Slavia Kosice (#3) and hope to get finally their first victory.
