Regular Season Round 9: Iskra Svit - Levice 75-76

The most exciting game of round 9 in the SBL took place in Svit. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 7th ranked Iskra Svit (2-7) to fourth ranked Levice (6-2) 76-75 on Saturday evening. Iskra Svit was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 21-15 charge of Levice, which allowed them to win the game. They shot 60.9 percent from the field. The former international guard Milan Ziak (190-88) stepped up and scored 27 points and 7 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and Serbian forward Marko Stojadinovic (204-89) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward John Petrucelli (193-92, college: Molloy) with 20 points and guard Roman Findura (189-85) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Iskra Svit players scored in double figures. Iskra Svit's coach Jan Drobny tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Levice have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Slavia Kosice and Rieker KN. Iskra Svit lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with seven games lost. Levice is looking forward to face Nitra (#8) in Nitra in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Iskra Svit will play at home against Inter Bratislava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
