Regular Season Round 6: Speyer - Wuerzburg 63-75

Bottom-ranked Speyer is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to ninth ranked Wuerzburg (2-4) 75-63 on Saturday evening. Wuerzburg forced 22 Speyer turnovers. Speyer was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for forward Felix Hoffmann (195-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Maximilian Ugrai (202-95) contributed with 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard DJ Woodmore (190-92, college: Va.Wesleyan) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import center Khobi Williamson (201-92, college: Hampden-Sydney) added 13 points and 10 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in the effort for Speyer. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Wuerzburg moved-up to eighth place in South, which they share with Noerdlingen. Loser Speyer still closes the standings with six games lost. Wuerzburg will face Giants (#8) in Noerdlingen in the next round. Speyer will play on the road against Weissenhorn Youngstars (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
