Regular Season Round 6: Ourense - Grupo Inec Z. 67-73

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both top-ranked Grupo Inec Z. and bottom-ranked Ourense had identical 0-0 record. But Ourense was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Zamora 73-67 on Sunday night. It was a key game for the top position in Group A-B. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Ourense won third quarter 26-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Grupo Inec Z. won last quarter 19-14. They made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Grupo Inec Z. outrebounded Ourense 39-24 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ourense was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for center Christopher Iza (206-95) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. American guard Isaiah Tate (192-89, college: George Mason) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Grupo Inec Z. players scored in double figures. point guard Martin Rodriguez (182) replied with 12 points and 4 assists and forward Ismael Fernandez (190-93) added 15 points in the effort for Ourense. Grupo Inec Z. (1-0) keeps a position of Group A-B leader, which they share with 5 other teams. Newly promoted Ourense still closes the standings with one game lost. Grupo Inec Z. will face Naron (#12) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ourense will play against Gijon (#8) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
