Regular Season Round 7: Malbas - Umea 69-58

Rather expected game when 11th ranked Umea (1-7) lost to eighth ranked Malbas (3-4) in Malmo 58-69 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they stormed back winning next two quarters and won the game by 11 points. Malbas made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Malbas outrebounded Umea 39-28 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Connor Miller (195-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who led the winners and scored 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Darion Rackley (190-92, college: Jacksonville St.) accounted for 11 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. Nathan Dawit (192-94) came up with 29 points and 5 steals and Johan Ronstrom (204-89) added 17 points respectively for Umea in the defeat. Umea's coach Jesper Gustavsson let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Malbas maintains eighth place with 3-4 record. Umea lost their third game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. They share it with Eco Orebro. Malbas will meet at home Eco Orebro (#10) in the next round. Umea will play against Nassjo and hope to win that game.
