Regular Season Round 5: Hokkaido L. - Chiba Jets 80-65

There was a minor upset in Saporro where 7th ranked Chiba Jets (3-5) were defeated by ninth ranked Hokkaido L. (3-6) 80-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Hokkaido L.. Chiba Jets was better in fourth quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Chiba Jets 36-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Asahi Tajima (173-88) chipped in 15 points and 6 assists. American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) produced 22 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Fumio Nishimura (177-86) added 12 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hokkaido L. moved-up to seventh place. Chiba Jets lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Hokkaido L. will face higher ranked Kumamoto V. (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chiba Jets will play against Hitachi Sunrockers and hope to win that game.
