Regular Season Round 5: Vasco - Illiabum 67-88

Proliga top team - Illiabum (5-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Vasco (2-3) in Porto 88-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vasco. The game was mostly controlled by Illiabum. Vasco was better in fourth quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Vasco 42-29 including a 35-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Illiabum looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Power forward Rafael Wildner (207-92) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and international Augusto Sobrinho (188-85, agency: Dynamics Global Management) chipped in 24 points. Guard Joao Veludo (177-92) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Felissanio Torres (192-91) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Illiabum. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Loser Vasco dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Illiabum will face Ginasio (#4) in Figueira da Foz in the next round. Vasco will play against Dragon Force and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
