Regular Season Round 7: Noerdlingen - Wuerzburg 74-62

Date: November 7, 2015
Everything could happen in Noerdlingen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Giants and 9th ranked Wuerzburg had identical 2-4 record. This time Giants used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Wuerzburg 74-62 on Saturday night. Giants made 34-of-40 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game, while Wuerzburg only scored fifteen points from the stripe. Giants forced 19 Wuerzburg turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Giants made 8 blocks. Wuerzburg was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American forward Jordan Talbert (198-91, college: Missouri So.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 20 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Brandon Lockhart (185-90, college: Drury) helped adding 24 points. At the losing side forward Felix Hoffmann (195-89) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Constantin Ebert (185-96) scored 15 points and 4 steals. Wuerzburg's coach Peter Guenschel rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Giants (3-4) moved-up to sixth place in South, which they share with Weissenhorn and Dresden. Loser Wuerzburg keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Giants will face Speyer (#12) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Wuerzburg will play against the league's second-placed BG Karlsruhe and hope to win that game.
