Regular Season Round 5: Cherkasy - Bipa Basket 72-80

Another exciting game was between eighth ranked Bipa Basket and 5th ranked Cherkasy where Bipa Basket (2-4) won against Cherkasy (2-3) on the road 80-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cherkasy. Cherkasy was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Bipa Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Cherkasy's 30. Bipa Basket forced 19 Cherkasy turnovers. American guard Chris Carter (196-92, college: Florida Tech, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Forward Evgeni Tkachenko (204-83) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international Klym Artamonov (186-93) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists and forward Dmitro Antonets (198-88) added 21 points in the effort for Cherkasy. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bipa Basket moved-up to sixth place. Cherkasy at the other side keeps the fifth position with three games lost. Bipa Basket will play against higher ranked Dynamo (#3) in Kyiv in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cherkasy will play at home against Dynamo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
