No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Burgos (4-2) beat 14th ranked Leyma Basquet (1-5) in Coruna 73-66 on Saturday. Leyma Basquet was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Burgos forced 19 Leyma Basquet turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for forward Eduardo Martinez (202-90) who led his team to a victory with 17 points. Power forward Roger Fornas (202-82) contributed with 12 points for the winners. American guard Zach Monaghan (188-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) replied with 16 points and 4 assists and center Sergio Olmos (213-86, college: Temple) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Leyma Basquet. Five Leyma Basquet players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Burgos moved-up to second place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Leyma Basquet keeps the fourteenth position with five games lost. Burgos will face Leche Rio Breogan (#6) in Lugo in the next round. Leyma Basquet will play on the road against Castello (#4) in Castellon and hope to win that game.
