Regular Season Round 5: Mitsubishi DD - Toshiba BT 68-82

Very expected game in Nagoya where 8th ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (2-6) were defeated by fourth ranked Toshiba Thunders (8-2) 82-68 on Sunday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Toshiba Thunders's pressure prevailed and they won that period 28-16 extending their advantage to 14 points. The best player for the winners was American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 17 rebounds. His fellow American import center Brian Butch (211-84, college: Wisconsin) chipped in 16 points. Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) added 12 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toshiba Thunders maintains fourth place with 8-2 record. Loser Mitsubishi Dolphins dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face higher ranked Tochigi Brex (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses (#1) in Kariya and hope to win that game.
