Regular Season Round 9: Finke Baskets - Baunach 71-63

Everything could happen in Paderborn at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Finke Baskets and 12th ranked Baunach had identical 4-4 record. This time Finke Baskets used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Baunach 71-63 on Sunday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Baunach won fourth quarter 17-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Finke Baskets made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a good game for American guard Matt Vest (196-92, college: Wright St.) who led his team to a victory with 19 points. Center Nick Schneiders (221-84, college: USC Upstate) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Finke Baskets' coach Uli Naechster used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Center Leon Kratzer (208-97) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Daniel Schmidt (186-90) added 7 points and 9 assists in the effort for Baunach. Finke Baskets (5-4) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Baunach dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Finke Baskets will face Koeln Rh.Stars (#7) on the road in the next round. Baunach will play against MLP Academics Heidelberg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
