The biggest surprise of round 3 in D1 took place in Rishon Le-Zion where host Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (2-1) beat ASA Jerusalem (2-1) 83-71 on Monday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion. ASA Jerusalem managed to win fourth quarter 19-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Puerto Rican-American point guard Jennifer O'Neill (168-90, college: Kentucky) who scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. American forward Karisma Penn (188-91, college: Illinois) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Four Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Shamela Hampton (191-87, college: UNLV) who recorded 20 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Asia Taylor (185-91, college: Louisville, agency: LBM Management) added 14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals respectively. ASA Jerusalem will play next round against strong Bnot Hertzeliya trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion will try to continue on its current victory against Ramat Hasharon at home.
