Regular Season Round 3: S.Jose/Unimed - Pinheiros 74-95

Sao Jose/Vinac (2-1) recorded a loss at the home court on Tuesday night. Hosts were rolled over by Pinheiros (2-1) 95-74. The game was mostly controlled by Pinheiros. Sao Jose/Vinac managed to win third quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pinheiros dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Sao Jose/Vinac's 34 and made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Sao Jose/Vinac 50-30 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Cordero Bennett (188-88) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Pinheiros' coach Cesar Guidetti felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Pedro Lima (191-87) who recorded 18 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) added 15 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pinheiros is looking forward to face Mogi (#4) in Mogi das Cruzes in the next round. Sao Jose/Vinac will play at home against Caxias do Sul and is hoping to win this game.
