Regular Season Round 8: Pielagos - Clavijo 87-69

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Pielagos as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group A-A. Pielagos defeated 6th ranked Clavijo in Renedo de Pielagos 87-69. The game was mostly controlled by Pielagos. Clavijo was better in second period 28-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Clavijo 35-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Senegalese center Abdoulaye Seck (205-92) who scored that evening 24 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and guard David Garcia (192-80) supported him with 17 points and 8 assists. Four Pielagos players scored in double figures. Pielagos' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 37 points (!!!) by point guard Brais Gago (180-96) did not help to save the game for Clavijo. Guard Jorge Martin (183-95) added 9 points for the guests. Pielagos have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Santurtzi. Clavijo at the other side keeps the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Clavijo will play next round against Easo trying to get back on the winning streak. Pielagos will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Burgos on the road.
