Regular Season Round 9: San Fernando - Huelva 70-62

The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked San Fernando's (4-1) home victory over 4th placed Huelva (2-3) 70-62 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 13-11. But Huelva won second period 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. San Fernando dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Huelva's 26. They outrebounded Huelva 30-14 including a 25-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Moises Jimenez (191-91) who scored 19 points. Juan Antonio Rodriguez-Guerra (-89) chipped in 8 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Antonio Claret Martinez (193-86) who recorded 13 points and forward Fulgencio Casanova (195-86) added 10 points respectively. Four Huelva players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for San Fernando. They moved-up to second place in Group D-West, which they share with Linense. Huelva lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. San Fernando will face San Juan (#6) in San Juan del Puerto in the next round. Huelva will play at home against Badajoz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
