Regular Season Round 7: Akademik PL - Rilski 65-79

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Academik Plovdiv (1-6) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Rilski (4-3) 79-65 on Saturday. American power forward Tony Gugino (207-86, college: Hillsdale) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Yordan Bozov (191-79, agency: Global Sports Plaza) chipped in 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Rilski players scored in double figures. Rilski's coach Rosen Barchovski used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian power forward Bosko Jovovic (205-83) produced 24 points and 5 rebounds and Vasil Bachev (195-92, college: Cuesta JC) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Rilski moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Spartak Pleven. Academik Plovdiv lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Yambol and Chernomorets. Rilski is looking forward to face Chernomorets (#9) in Burgas in the next round. Academik Plovdiv will play at home against Beroe and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
