Regular Season Round 9: Clavijo - Easo 55-76

Rather expected game in Logrono where 8th ranked Clavijo (2-3) was rolled over by fifth ranked Easo (4-1) 76-55 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Easo dominated on the defensive end, holding Clavijo to just 5 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Clavijo's 34. Easo forced 24 Clavijo turnovers. Strangely Clavijo outrebounded Easo 34-21 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was center Manex Eizmendi (200-92) who scored 18 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Point guard Inigo Del Valle (188-87) chipped in 11 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian Mantvydas Staselis (189-94) who recorded 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and forward Daniel Lopez Villanueva (195-89) added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Easo. They moved-up to third place in Group A-A, which they share with Estela and Ardoi. Loser Clavijo dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Easo will face Burgos (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Clavijo will play against Zarautz and hope to win that game.
