Regular Season Round 13: AB Ancud - Puente Alto 93-80

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Puente Alto (4-7) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked AB Ancud (5-7) 93-80 on Saturday. AB Ancud looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Puente Alto's players. Jamaican-American guard Akeem Scott (185-83, college: High Point) stepped up and scored 29 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals for the winners and Venezuelan forward Juan Coronado (203-90, college: Liberty) chipped in 27 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Scott is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side forward Franco Garrido (181-86) responded with 32 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Louis Munks (190-90, college: Prairie View A&M) scored 23 points. Puente Alto's coach Mauricio Flores rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. AB Ancud moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Puente Alto dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. AB Ancud will face higher ranked Colo Colo (#7) in Santiago in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Puente Alto will play on the road against CD Castro (#6) and hope to win that game.
