Regular Season Round 14: Las Animas - CDU Catolica 90-85

Very expected game in Valdivia where 11th ranked Universidad Catolica (5-8) was defeated by third ranked Las Animas (8-5) 90-85 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Las Animas made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Las Animas outrebounded Universidad Catolica 44-32 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: DTMones) had a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Terrance Thomas (198-80, college: Baylor, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 16 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Las Animas players scored in double figures. American forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and the former international guard Felipe Contreras (183-81) scored 11 points. Las Animas moved-up to second place, which they share with Los Leones. Universidad Catolica lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost. Las Animas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Valdivia to the arena Deportivo Valdivia.
