Regular Season Round 9: Ardoi - Zarautz 83-71

Very predictable result in Zizur Mayor where fifth ranked Ardoi (4-1) beat 10th ranked Zarautz (1-4) 83-71 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Ardoi. Zarautz was better in third quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Zarautz 42-27 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Zarautz was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Alberto Davila (195-81) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. Naturalized Ukrainian forward Anton Savitski (196-86) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Unai Eizaguirre (182-88) who recorded 12 points and 5 assists and Aitzol Eguskitza added 12 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ardoi moved-up to third place in Group A-A, which they share with Estela and Easo. Newly promoted Zarautz keeps the tenth position with four games lost. Ardoi will face Estela (#3) in Santander in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Zarautz will play at home against Clavijo (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
