Regular Season Round 14: CD Castro - Puente Alto 72-90
Date: November 22, 2015
Bottom-ranked Puente Alto managed to get a fifth victory. This time they won against sixth-ranked CD Castro 90-72. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 18-point difference suggests that Puente Alto is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of CD Castro. The game was mostly controlled by Puente Alto. CD Castro was better in second period 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Puente Alto had a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Puente Alto especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. American guard Louis Munks (190-90, college: Prairie View A&M) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 6 rebounds. American-Nigerian forward Andrew Osemhen (206-92, college: Kennesaw St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Puente Alto players scored in double figures. International forward Juan Fontena (196-87) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds and the former international point guard Gonzalo Velasquez (185-81) added 20 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) in the effort for CD Castro. Puente Alto (5-7) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Colo Colo. CD Castro at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Puente Alto will play against higher ranked Espanol de Talca (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. CD Castro will play against the league's second-placed Los Leones and will have a slim chance for a victory.
