Regular Season Round 9: Polonia Bytom - Cieszyn 82-64

Everything went according to plan when leader Polonia Bytom (9-0) defeated at home 6th ranked Cieszyn (4-5) 82-64 on Sunday. Polonia Bytom dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Cieszyn's 32. They outrebounded Cieszyn 45-24 including a 37-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for Emil Podkowinski (194-88) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. Center Lukasz Bak (210-81, agency: Promotex) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Forward Lukasz Ochodek (197-82) answered with 18 points and guard Grzegorz Szybowicz (186-86) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for Cieszyn. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Polonia Bytom. They maintain first place with 9-0 record, which they share with Polonia Leszno. Loser Cieszyn dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Polonia Bytom will face AZS PS Gliwice (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Cieszyn will play against MCKiS Jaworz. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
