Regular Season Round 10: Napoli Basket - Catanzaro 104-78

Serie B top team - Napoli Basket (9-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Catanzaro (6-4) 104-78. Napoli Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Catanzaro's 38 and made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Catanzaro 36-13 including a 25-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Napoli Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 38 assists. Forward Davide Serino (199-81) scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Armando Iannone (187-90) chipped in 21 points and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) during the contest. Napoli Basket's coach Giampaolo Di Lorenzo felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side point guard Fehmi Abassi (191-94) responded with 20 points and 6 assists and guard Gianluca Carpanzano (188-95) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Napoli Basket maintains first position in B with 9-1 record, which they share with Udine APU. Loser Catanzaro dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. Napoli Basket will face Empoli (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Catanzaro will play against Viterbo SA (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
