Regular Season Round 20: Sendai 89ers - Yokohama BC 88-97

Top ranked Sendai 89ers (13-5) recorded its fifth loss at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked Yokohama BC (10-8) 97-88. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sendai 89ers. Sendai 89ers were trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 31-20 charge of Yokohama BC, which allowed them to win the game. They made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Yokohama BC especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was swingman Masayuki Masayuki (183-82) who scored 24 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). American forward Carl Hall (203-89, college: Wichita St.) chipped in 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Yokohama BC players scored in double figures. American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import power forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) added 16 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Yokohama BC moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Iwate Big Bulls and Osaka Evessa. Sendai 89ers at the other side still keep top position with five games lost. Yokohama BC is looking forward to face Oita Heat Devils (#10) at home in the next round. Sendai 89ers will play against Hiroshima L. (#12) and are hoping to win this game.
