No shocking result in a game when third ranked Olympiacos (7-1) beat on the road bottom-ranked Kavala (1-7) 71-57 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Olympiacos. Kavala was better in second period 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olympiacos dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Kavala's 22. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Liberian-American power forward Othello Hunter (203-86, college: Ohio St., agency: David Lee services) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 8 rebounds. International power forward Michalis Tsairelis (206-88) contributed with 13 points for the winners. The former international forward Christos Tapoutos (203-82) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Dutch center Thomas van der Mars (208-90, college: Portland) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Kavala. Kavala's coach Giannis Tzimas rotated ten players saving starting five for next games. Olympiacos have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with AEK Athens. Kavala lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Olympiacos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens AEK Athens.
