Regular Season Round 18: Prievidza - Nitra 89-63

SBL top team - Prievidza (12-3) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Nitra (3-11) 89-63. The game without a history. Prievidza led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Nitra's 30 and made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Prievidza forced 23 Nitra turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Croatian swingman Marko Batina (197-86, agency: PEPI SPORT) scored 23 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian power forward Svetozar Stamenkovic (202-90) chipped in 17 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Four Prievidza players scored in double figures. Prievidza's coach Miljan Curovic felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Serbian forward Filip Pejovic (198-89, college: Erskine) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and Serbian guard Filip Simic (185-90, agency: Beo Basket) scored 11 points and 9 assists. Prievidza maintains first position with 12-3 record. Nitra at the other side keeps the eighth place with 11 games lost. Prievidza are looking forward to face league's second-placed Rieker KN in Komarno in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nitra will play on the road against Levice (#4) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
