Regular Season Round 10: Faros - Peristeri GS 100-61

A2 top team - Faros (10-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifteenth ranked Peristeri GS (1-5) in Keratsiniou 100-61. The game was mostly controlled by Faros. Peristeri GS was better in fourth quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 23-of-29 charity shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Faros outrebounded Peristeri GS 38-22 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Peristeri GS was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Nikos Angelopoulos (205-84, agency: Interperformances) notched 19 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Nikos Liakopoulos (188-83, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 13 points and 8 assists. Five Faros players scored in double figures. Faros' coach Theofilos Bekes felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Dimitris Katiakos (205-87) added 13 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Faros have an impressive ten-game winning streak. Newly promoted Faros maintains first position with 10-0 record. Peristeri GS lost fifth consecutive game. Peristeri GS at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom place with five games lost. They share the position with Pefkohori. Faros will play against Psyhiko (#10) in Athens in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Peristeri GS's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Psyhiko.
