Regular Season Round 9: Arkadikos - Lavrio 98-90

There was a minor upset in Arkadia where 8th ranked Lavrio (3-6) was defeated by eleventh ranked Arkadikos (3-6) 98-90. The hosts were already 11 points ahead at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 31-24 last quarter charge of Lavrio cut the lead to 98-90 at the end of the game. Arkadikos made 21-of-27 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Lavrio helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for forward Eufthimios Gatsopoulos (200-97) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Dutch-British guard Devon Van Oostrum (190-93, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Arkadikos' coach John Kastritis allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Brandon Young (193-91, college: De Paul) answered with 26 points and the other American import point guard Zamal Nixon (186-89, college: Houston, agency: Two Points) added 15 points and 6 assists in the effort for Lavrio. Four Arkadikos and five Lavrio players scored in double figures. Arkadikos moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Lavrio. Arkadikos' next round opponent will be Aiolos Trikallon (#11) on the road.
