Regular Season Round 20: Nitra - Karlovka 79-77

Important game to mention about took place in Nitra. Eighth ranked Nitra (4-13) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Karlovka (4-13) 79-77 in the game for the seventh place. It looked good early as Karlovka took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Nitra had a 25-17 second period charge getting the lead and Karlovka was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-79. Nitra forced 22 Karlovka turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian forward Filip Pejovic (198-89, college: Erskine) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and forward Ladislav Stojanov (194-88) who added 13 points and 4 assists during the contest. Center Ivan Zidzik (208-90, college: NW Nazarene) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and forward Lukaas Hoferica (200-89) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Karlovka's coach Milan Cernicky let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Nitra moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Karlovka. Karlovka lost seventh consecutive game. Nitra will play against higher ranked Iskra Svit (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Karlovka will play against Nova Ves and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
