Regular Season Round 9: Macae - Pinheiros 101-97

Bottom-ranked Macae managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of four consecutive losses on Tuesday night. This time they won against fourth-ranked Pinheiros 101-97. Pinheiros trailed by 17 points after 3 quarters before a 38-25 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 97-101 at the end of the game. Macae made 29-of-32 free shots (90.6 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Pinheiros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for the former international Marcio Dornelles (196-75) who led his team to a victory with 20 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). American point guard Caleb Brown (183-89, college: Austin Peay St.) contributed with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) answered with 25 points and 7 rebounds and forward Lucas Dias Silva (209-95) added 20 points in the effort for Pinheiros. Five Macae and four Pinheiros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Macae (2-6) moved-up to thirteenth place. Pinheiros at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Macae are looking forward to face Caxias do Sul (#14) at home in the next round. Pinheiros will play against Flamengo (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
