Very expected game in Sorgues where 13th ranked Berck (5-8) was defeated by eighth ranked SAP Vaucluse (8-6) 72-60 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by SAP Vaucluse. Berck was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Berck 45-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian forward Zygimantas Jonusas (200-82) who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Mali power forward Cheick Soumaoro (204-90) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. point guard Samir Mekdad (188-86) produced 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Jonathan Leria (198-90) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. SAP Vaucluse moved-up to sixth place, which they share with La Rochelle. Newly promoted Berck keeps the thirteenth position with eight games lost. SAP Vaucluse will face Angers BC (#11) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Berck will play against JSA Bordeaux and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
