Regular Season Round 23: Oita H.Devils - Fukushima 105-94

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Oita Heat Devils (5-12) defeated at home higher ranked Fukushima (11-8) 105-94 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 17-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 105-94. Oita Heat Devils made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who had a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds. Forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds. Swingman Le'Bryan Nash (201-92, college: Oklahoma St.) produced a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and forward Stephan Van Treese (206-90, college: Louisville, agency: Two Points) added 19 points and 15 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures. Fukushima's coach Hiroki Fujita tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Oita Heat Devils maintains ninth place with 5-12 record. Fukushima lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Oita Heat Devils will face again higher ranked Fukushima (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
